Messegelände Berlin
Messegelände Berlin
The Berlin Exhibition Center is located in the Charlottenburg district of Berlin, Germany, and is the fifth largest exhibition venue in Germany. The indoor exhibition area is approximately 160,000 square meters, including 26 interconnected exhibition halls, and features a central courtyard of 10,000 square meters.
The Berlin Exhibition Center (Exhibition Grounds / Trade Center) is situated in the western part of the city of Berlin. From 1993 to 1999, the exhibition area was expanded by another 80,000 square meters to the south (designed by architect Oswald Mathias Ungers). Contrary to the newly built linear Halls 1 to 6, the South Entrance, completed at the end of 2002, is semi-circular with a large glass facade of 3,500 square meters. By 2006, various service buildings and a modern exhibition and press service building will be constructed here. The first exhibition hall in Berlin was built in 1914, opposite the current International Congress Center.
The important trade fairs held annually at the Berlin International Exhibition Center include the Berlin International Green Week (IGWB), the Berlin International Radio Show (IFA), and the Berlin International Tourism Fair (ITB Berlin), among others, which are major international industry exhibitions.
